Volunteer with LTEPTO

There are many ways to participate in LTES PTO – from chairing or coordinating a committee or event to simply being available to volunteer and help out from time-to-time. Contact the PTO President or Vice President to learn more.

Author Visits (Special):
Meet with librarian to plan visit of author, coordinate pre-book sale and/or lunchtime sale during week of visit, assist author as needed.
Back to School Supplies (Special – Spring and Summer):
Meet with teachers to determine supply lists, purchase supplies, plan and organize the Back to School Store in August– including a schedule of volunteers to help deliver pre-packaged orders to the designated classrooms.
Book Room (Ongoing):
Keep book room organized, pull books that are requested by teachers, and re-shelve books as needed. 1 to 2 volunteers are needed for this ongoing teacher help.
Book Fair (Special – Fall/Spring):
Work with teachers, staff and book company to organize the 2 Book Fairs. Organize a schedule of volunteers to work at the Book Fair.
Caring/Special Needs (Ongoing):
>Helps to provide programs that involve all students with different and special needs. PTO liaison with school counselor.
Columbus Symphony Visit (4th and 5th Grade):
Work with music teacher to plan visit to Columbus Symphony. Flyers to explain plan and collect money.
COSI (Special – Winter/Spring):
Organize the visit from COSI employees that will conduct a hands-on science presentation for students. Schedule volunteers to help during the visit.
Directory (Special – summer/early fall):
Request information from school office, send flyer to each child for corrections, correct and format data and cover page, deliver to printer, pick up finished books and distribute.
Donuts for Dads (Special – Spring):
Organize this event. Coordinate delivery of donuts and drinks. Send home pre-sale information. Recruit volunteers to help at the event.
Enrichment Day (Special – Spring):
This program offers a variety of hands-on classes to students. The committee selects classes and finds instructors among parents, community members, and professionals. Committee organizes volunteers to assist in classes.
First Days of School (Special – First week of school):
Work with committee to welcome children as they arrive at school to find way from buses/drop-off area to classrooms. Provide nametags/maps for volunteers.
Field Days (All School):
Organize and plan field days for last day of school. Recruit volunteers and establish games.
Kindergarten Screening (Special – April):
Coordinate information with school in setting up date, time and place for screening. Arrange volunteers to help with the screening.
Last Day of Elementary (5th Grade):
Plan and organize fun end of year party for 5th grade leaving elementary school. 5th Grade parent.
Library Helpers (Ongoing):
Group to assist librarian on day to activities (i.e. shelving books, assisting students, etc.). 5 to 6 parent volunteers are needed to help with this weekly.
Logo Wear (Ongoing):
Select merchandise, distribute information/order forms, place order, fill orders, and organize volunteers to sell at various school functions.
Nominating (Special – Spring):
Notify members of open vacancies for the positions of officers and committee chairs for the following school year. Work with committee to fill open positions.
Party Coordinator (Special – Fall):
Liaison to administration, organize classroom parents, prepare packet of information for four parties, have meeting first month of school to explain duties to classroom parents, confirm party information with room parents prior to each party, check on classrooms on day of parties.
Pioneer Days (3rd Grade):
Work with the 3rd grade teachers to plan the 3rd grade Pioneer days in May.
Product Rewards (Ongoing):
Distribute info to school students announcing program, etc. (BoxTops, Campbell Soup Labels, Target, Giant Eagle, etc.)
School Beautification (Ongoing):
Update entrance to building with seasonal items.
School Sign (Ongoing):
Update sign on an as needed basis (generally once every 3-4 weeks). Receive information from PTO President and school administration.
Spring Fundraiser (Special – March and April):
Work with selected vendor to organize fundraiser of either magazines/goods/candles, etc. Distribute materials to students and manage the delivery of the items. Recruit volunteers to help with all aspects of this event.
Staff Appreciation Dinners/Luncheon (Special – Fall, Spring):
Organize 2 staff dinners (during conferences) and 1 luncheon (late spring) to recognize our teachers and staff. Organize volunteers to help donate food items, help set up, serve, and clean up.
Summer Brain Games (Special – September):
Liaison for teachers and administration, distribute information to students/parents, distribute packets to classrooms, order awards for fall.
Talent Show– Grades 3-5 only (Special – Spring):
Preview acts, schedule acts, conduct dress rehearsal, organize volunteers, setup, work event and clean up.
VIP/Badges (Special– September/Ongoing):
Develop and send out volunteer forms for PTO activities, prepare volunteer lists for committees, organize and train all volunteers. Create badges for volunteers to display while at Liberty Tree.
Walk-a-Thon (Special – September):
Coordinate and distribute information for Walk-a-Thon. Liaison between school and companies sponsoring the fundraiser. Collect monies raised and recruit volunteers.
